Easter Week in Avilés

Easter Week in Avilés is of vital importance. The medieval city of Asturias par excellence celebrates Holy Week with passion and has done so since the distant 17th century, although this celebration as it has come down to us today took shape in the first half of the 20th century.

The setting of the historic centre of the city is unequalled for the staging and rituals of Holy Week.
